The cello is a four-stringed instrument.  It plays in bass clef.  It's lower than violas and violins, but higher than the double bass and has a very rich sound.  The cello can play a wide variety of parts, but most commonly plays beautiful harmonies.  However, the cello can play exciting melodies, too.
